New Mini-Vegas Birmingham Casino Resort Opens

The new Genting Casino complex has been under construction for the last 2 and half years since work began in February 2013. This new casino complex is made up of 12 stories covering 50,000 square metres and costing over £150 Million since construction began.

Built next to the NEC site in Birmingham the Resorts World complex is a jointly funded project from Genting Casinos and the NEC Group who's CEO Paul Thandi said at the time: "Our partnership with Genting marks an important step in our wider vision to make the NEC site more of a destination and the place where people come to discover the future.".

Named "Resorts World" this new casino complex comprises 18 Bars and Resturants, 50 Retail Outlets, a Cinemax and IMAX Cinema, 183 Hotel rooms complete with a Spa and of course the Genting Casino centre piece.

As part of this new casino venture the project has generated a staggering 1200 new jobs for the West Midlands community and can accommodate over 12,000 people at any given time. The 11 screen IMAX cinema opened up on Friday 30th October 2015 after the resorts grand opening on 21st October 2015. 

Birmingham and the West Midlands area generates over 56 Million visitors every year according to James Berresford the Chief Executive of VisitEngland who was present for the opening. Barry Clemo, Business Director at Genting was also present for the opening of the retail section of the new complex stating that the opening on the 21st was to be a soft launch in prepartion for night areas to be opened up in the coming days and weeks ahead. 

Coming out of the city or anywhere in the West Midlands I think people will be amazed.

Some of the 50 retail outlet stores on offer include brands such as H&M, Bench, GAP, Next and Nike along with more boutique style stores such as the new Lego clothing company, Skechers and Thorntons.

As well as daytime shopping there is wealth of resturants and bars including a TGI Fridays and the exclusive New York Highline Bar.

Combined with a 4 Star Hotel Complex there is also a fully featured Spa resort onsite featuring an outdoor hot tub a pool and a salt cave.
